免疫系统的基本要素是淋巴细胞和免疫球蛋白(Ig)。人的免疫系统大约是由10~(12)个淋巴细胞和10(20)个抗体分子组成的。V基因决定的抗体分子可变区不仅表现抗体活性,而且显示抗原性。所以说,Ig分子既是抗体又是抗原,既能识别也能被识别。对于Ig可变区表现出的抗原特异性,称为个体基因型(idiotype),对于能够识别该个体基因型的另一Ig可变区的特异性则称为抗个体
