Rapid advances in molecular and cellular biology over the past 70 years have revolutionized the understanding of how cells function at all levels from molecule to entire organism and how genes govern cell activities.Since the discovery of the DNA double-helix structure and the advent of recombinant DNA technology, molecular biology has further exploded with the development of ever-evolving technologies such as PCR, omics, gene editing, and stem cell technology.Completion of the human genome sequencing and great progress in illustrating gene regulation networks have accelerated mapping of cell atlas and broadened our understanding of organ development and diseases. These emerging biological breakthroughs have led to a great impact on modern biology and also hold the potential to greatly advanced medicine.
