Due to historical reasons, China and South Korea have long been in isolation from each other. From the late 1970s onwards, with the gradual relaxation of the regional situation and the implementation of China’s open-door policy, the two sides began to carry out exchanges in sports and academic fields. Economic and trade relations have also gradually developed. In particular, in recent years, the economic and trade exchanges between China and South Korea have accelerated and the momentum for development is on the rise. The trade volume between the two sides has continued to expand and has gradually shifted from indirect trade to direct trade. According to Korean statistics, From 1987 to 1990, South Korea’s trade with China increased from US$1.613 billion to US$3.702 billion. Of this total, exports to China increased from US$7.47 billion to US$1.434 billion with an average annual growth of 24.3%; imports from China increased from US$866 million to 22.68 billion US dollars
