As far as the characterization of David Copperfield is concerned, Dickens tells the reader a repeating theme in a similar fairytale narrative: the story of the contest between good and evil, For the shaping of one of the contradictions, Julia, the author obviously uses the repetitive “hand” image to strengthen the three-dimensional sense of character. This article intends to analyze Dickens’s description of Uria’s hand in “David Copperfield” by using the repetitive theory of deconstructionist J. Hillis Miller about fiction to analyze and discuss the repetitive images of his hands The relationship between the development of the story.
