据美国《空间新闻》周刊1997年1月6日～12日一期报道，若干家西方保险公司预测，1997年全世界将有40次航天发射投保，保险费收人将达到10亿美元以上，从而使今年的航天发射保险市场呈现繁荣景象，迈上一个新的台阶。相比之下，1996年全球航天发射的保险费收人只有8．5亿美元。
According to a weekly report of Space News from January 6 to January 12, 1997, a number of western insurance companies forecast that 40 space launches will be insured around the world in 1997 and the premium income will reach over 1 billion U.S. dollars. So that this year’s space launch insurance market is booming, to a new level. In contrast, in 1996 the global space launch revenue premium was only 850 million U.S. dollars.
