In the past 25 years, the United States has built a large number of university libraries more than any other period in its history. One may expect that the quality of libraries built at the end of this period will undoubtedly be better than those built during the initial period. However, many library experts have questioned this expected achievement. This article will discuss the development of library architecture, highlight its outstanding strengths and weaknesses, and discuss the problems and prospects of university library construction in these important aspects. The typical modelling was still in 1960, and the simple model design concept completely replaced the idea of the fixed function that dominated the architectural design of American university libraries throughout the first half of the 20th century. The advantages of this new design form are: 1. It accommodates
