The play “Trivia” by Susan Glasbel in 1916 is an excellent work that skillfully uses symbolism to show the relationship between men and women and the rights of women in American society and family in the early twentieth century. The purpose of this paper is to explore the symbolic meanings of the characters by analyzing the names of “Bird and Birdcage”, “Quilt” and characters in the works so as to reveal the social family background and personality of the heroine Minnie Wright And murder motivation to explore the tragic fate of female individuals in patriarchal society and how they reflected the awakening of self-consciousness of ignorant women through passive and passive resistance.
