李根源是民国时期从云南出来的最具影响力的人物之一。他思想激进,能文能武,是孙中山革命事业的积极支持者。他与蔡锷等人发动云南辛亥起义,胜利后任云南军政府军政部总长兼参议院院长,制定和实施一系列颇有成效的政治、经济、文化改革,使云南成为民国初年比较安定的省份之一。以后历任北京国会众议院议员、北洋政府航空督办、 Li Genyuan was one of the most influential figures from Yunnan during the Republic of China. He was radical in his thinking and capable of writing articles and was able to support himself. He was an active supporter of the revolutionary cause of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. He and Cai Xun and others launched the Xinhai Revolution in Yunnan Province. After the victory, he became the director of the military affairs department of the Yunnan Military Government and the president of the Senate. He formulated and implemented a series of fruitful political, economic and cultural reforms to make Yunnan a more stable province in the early Republican China one.
