2011年3月11日,日本发生大地震及海啸,大量房屋被摧毁,损失十分严重,而当中损失的不单是金钱,还有比金钱更重要、无可替代的记忆。四年来,理光一直在进行一个名为“Save the Memory Project”的项目,来拯救这些珍贵的回忆。自地震发生以来,该项目收集、清洁、整理及数码化了超过40万张照片,并透过当地政府及不同团体的协助,借助设立照片展示中心、设立savethememory.jp网站等方式,已经让其中9万张照片归回失主,让他们重拾那些美好的回忆。
On March 11, 2011, a major earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. As a result, a large number of houses were destroyed and suffered serious losses. Among them, not only money but also more important and irreplaceable memories than money were lost. For four years Ricoh has been working on a project called Save the Memory Project to save these precious memories. Since the earthquake, the project has collected, cleaned, collated and digitized more than 400,000 photos. With assistance from local governments and various organizations, the project has set up a photo exhibition center and set up a website such as savethememory.jp 90,000 photos back to the owner, let them regain the good memories.
