1995年8月30日至9月14日,北约对波黑塞族军队发动了一次北约成立46年来规模最大的空袭作战行动,这也是自海湾战争以来世界上发生的最大的一次空袭战:一时间波黑成了继海湾之后的又一个高技术武器试验场。在两周的空袭行动中,北约出动各种作战、支援飞机3500架次(其中执行攻击地面目标任务的有750架次),投放各型炸弹和导弹1000多枚(有600枚属精确制导武器),另外还从海上发射了13枚在海湾战争中崭露头角的“战斧”式巡航导弹。这些武器总共攻击了选定的55个塞军目标,共计344个瞄准点,主要包括:防空力量和设施、弹药库、雷达、指挥控制设施与通信系统、维修中心和道路、桥梁等。
From August 30 to September 14, 1995, NATO launched the largest NATO air strikes against Bosnian Serb forces in 46 years and the largest one in the world since the Gulf War: one Time in Bosnia and Herzegovina has become another high-tech weapons test site following the Gulf. During the two-week air strikes, NATO dispatched various operations to support 3,500 aircraft sorties, of which 750 sorties were deployed to attack the ground targets and put more than 1,000 bombs and missiles of all types (with 600 precision-guided weapons) In addition, 13 “Tomahawk” cruise missiles, which emerged from the sea during the Gulf War, were also launched. In total, these weapons attacked 55 selected SSA targets and totaled 344 aiming points, including air defense strength and facilities, ammunition depots, radar, command and control facilities and communications systems, maintenance centers, roads and bridges.
