In this paper, a new evolutionary strategy is proposed for minimizingunimodal functions. Main characteristic of the strategy is that theclassical mutation operator-Gaussian distribution is substituted by anuniform distribution. Theoretical analysis and numerical experimentsindicate that convergence rate of the new strategy is superior to theclassical one in most cases. Criteria of adoption of parent population andverification of step-length are also studied, and computational efficiencyof evolutionary strategies, in which crossover operator is employed orunemployed, is compared.
