Objective To investigate the effects of different doses of fish oil supplementation on the composition, serum adiponectin (PUFA) levels and antioxidative capacity of middle-aged and elderly people. Methods A total of 240 middle-aged and elderly people aged 45-70 years were randomly divided into control group (no fish oil), low, medium and high doses of fish oil (1, 2, 4 fish oil capsules per day (each containing 182 mg EPA + 129mg DHA)] 4 groups, intervention 12w, before and after the intervention questionnaire, physical measurements and fasting venous blood collection. Serum levels of fatty acids, adiponectin, blood glucose, malondialdehyde (MDA), total superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were measured. 201 people completed the test. There was no difference between the baseline data and serological indicators before intervention; after the intervention, there was no significant change in each index of the control group. The levels of serum eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and n-3 PUFA increased significantly (P <0.05) and n-6 / n-3 PUFAs decreased significantly (P <0.05). Serum adiponectin increased significantly (P <0.05); serum MDA decreased significantly; the content of total SOD and GSH-Px in each fish oil group increased significantly; the GSH-Px in middle dose group and the high dose group Total SOD, GSH-Px were higher than the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion A certain dose of fish oil supplementation can significantly increase the level of serum EPA, DHA, adiponectin, total SOD and GSH-Px and decrease n-6 / n-3 PUFA, blood glucose and MDA in middle-aged and elderly people. / d) the most obvious.
