禁忌是人类社会普遍存在的文化现象 ,这一现象的产生是由于人们存在着一种恐惧、敬畏的心理。因此 ,在中西文化中 ,对诸如生老病死、名称、日常生活以及隐私和亵渎等许多方面都存在禁忌用语。为了回避这些禁忌语 ,人们普遍采用委婉语来表达 ,所以禁忌语和委婉语就成了中西方文化的并存现象。对这一并存现象的分析和研究 ,不但能使人们在文化交流中掌握好语言的运用技巧 ,而且能够使人们深入了解语言所在民族的文化内涵 Taboo is a common cultural phenomenon in human society. This phenomenon is caused by people’s fear and awe. Therefore, in Chinese and Western cultures, taboo terms exist in many aspects such as death and illness, name, daily life, privacy and profaneness. In order to avoid these taboo words, people generally use euphemisms to express, so taboo words and euphemisms have become the coexistence of Chinese and Western cultures. The analysis and research of this coexisting phenomenon not only make people grasp the skills of using language in cultural exchange, but also enable people to understand the cultural connotation of the nation where the language is located
