The epistemological origins of this controversy lie in the fact that the scientific metaphysics exaggerated the social dimension of scientific practice and also reflected the new confrontation between the two cultures. The key to solving this controversy lies in adjusting the relationship between the epistemological content of scientific research and the content of social history.
