1998年,蒋云仲的巨作《虞美人》问世,艺术圈和收藏界无不为之震惊。美术评论家赵兰英不由得惊叹:以如此大的画幅来展示唐代元素以及南唐历史题材,这在百年中国油画史上还未有过。我们细细品读蒋云仲的画,能够感觉到他笔下那一股俊逸之气。夫风起于青萍之末,或剑光明灭,或剑花昳丽,总使人眼目为之一醒。他的美人图,其格调之高,分量之重,早已将民国前辈甩在了身后,也超越了一大批当代名家。蒋云仲能成功的创造只属于他自己的海派艺术,原因很简单,他那一身的侠骨,并不是每个人都能拥有。
