Most of Ashby’s poetry is obscure and often makes the reader unable to understand. The analysis of “farms in the north” and “still cells” shows that this chaotic effect was deliberately created by him to criticize traditional world and linguistic views. He eliminated the semantic orientation of poetry through his paradoxical images, the disorderly conversion of perspectives, and the vagueness of meaning. He pointed out the illusoryness of language expression, and at the same time, created a peculiar aesthetics of local clarity and general obscurity. Aspirelli’s use of suggestive techniques allows his writing to eliminate the semantics while at the same time achieving the critique of the traditional world view and language view.
