Objective To explore the treatment and prognosis of craniocerebral trauma in Yunnan plateau, and to provide some research ideas and scientific basis for the etiology and prognostic factors of craniocerebral injury in the plateau. Methods From January 2005 to March 2010, the first Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical College neurosurgery admitted for craniocerebral injury in 4218 patients were retrospectively investigated and analyzed. Results There were significant differences in admission GCS scores between patients with craniocerebral trauma at different altitudes (P <0.001). The areas with higher elevation had lower GCS scores (P <0.05) and worse prognosis (P <0.05). Conclusion Altitude in the plateau may be another factor that leads to poor prognosis of craniocerebral injury.
