凝视作为一个复杂的哲学概念,经历了一个相当长的发展过程,在这个过程中,很多哲学家对凝视理论进行了补充阐释和完善,使得凝视理论日趋完善。并被广泛地应用于医学、影视、文化等各个领域。将凝视理论应用于文学作品的研究,对于我们从新的角度鉴赏文学作品,解读作品中的人物形象、主客体关系、社会意义各研究方面等都有着非常重要的意义。在英国的文学史上,有很多经典的作品,每部作品都离不开一个共同的主题,即“人”。包括半人半神式的英雄人物,出身于贵族的悲剧英雄,出身于平民的善良绅士,美丽善良而又敢于挣脱现实种种羁绊的女性……不同身份的人物形象正显示出了英国经典文学作品中主题的变迁。本文主要从凝视的角度,以英国文学发展阶段为据点,结合具体的英国经典文学作品,分析其主题变迁。
