After a period of public solicitation of opinions, the Ministry of Education announced on January 26 that “primary and secondary school teachers’ behaviors of violating professional ethics” and that teachers’ 9 kinds of behaviors such as protecting students’ safety, corporal punishment or sexual harassment will be punished. In the long run, it is most likely to cause controversy if one examines the nine red lines of the division of ethics set forth by the Ministry of Education this time. Perhaps it is not Article 5 (corporal punishment students). Because for a long time, there has been quite a lot of controversy over the issue of “there is no need for discipline in education,” and one voice has never been submerged in the protracted opposition by the protracted debate. On the contrary, It has received the support of many primary and secondary school teachers, that is: education without punishment is incomplete.
