本文通过运用女性主义,阶级分析法来对比分析《名利场》中蓓基和《红与黑》中于连的形象。蓓基和于连两个人物存在很多相似之处,同处于19世纪早期,都是作为才华横溢的家庭教师,都对这个社会怀着满满的激情与野心,都在残酷的社会中试图挣扎着攀上贵族阶层,被社会上层认可,但最终都幻灭在虚伪的社会中,留下悲剧的结局。除此以外,他们两人又有着诸多不同,一则所处的具体环境不同,一个是男权社会下的牺牲品,一个是阶级矛盾尖锐下的殉难者,二则他们两人对于自我和社会最终的领悟以及自我最终选择的抗争方式也有很大差异。这些分别反映了萨克雷与司汤达两位作家笔下的维多利亚时代和法国波旁王朝复辟时期的社会背景与价值观。
