Dr. Rudiger Kapitza, chairman of the Gildemeister Group, announced in Pfronten, Germany, at the end of February: The Group’s machine tool sales increased by 30%, and new orders increased by 39%. The group also demonstrated two kinds of machining centers, one is a small “half-NC” or “joint” lathe, and the other is a four-axis CNC lathe with a counter-spindle and a small 3-D YAG laser processing machine. Total orders received by Gildemeister Group reached DM1.3 billion in 1998, an increase of 39% over 1997; sales in Germany increased by 32% to DM 157,700, while exports increased by 26% to 482,200,000 mark.
