The extreme weathers brought by global climate change at present, like draught, flood, freeze injury, hail, haze and sandstorm are directly affecting the global ecological system safety and bringing serious harms on human survival and development. The disasters not only change the world political pattern, but also speed up social turmoil and trigger regional conflicts.
The adaptive capacities of mankind to climate change include inheriting one and acquired one. The former one shows in the congenital expressive way and physiological feature in various climate conditions. Such as in tropical areas, because of the weather, people there have dark skin and short figure and their descendants all inherit this feature to adapt themselves to the weather; the latter one develops in special weather conditions by inheriting adaptive ability within the life period of human beings. Such as children born in high altitude localities have light weight and imperfect nervous system, but due to the lack of oxygen, they get better respiratory system. Therefore, people always get used to the weather of their birth place. Such as southerners are used to wet and rainy days, while northerners are used to dry and windy days, and when people change the living place, they would be unacclimatized and be ill. Human body is very sensitive to climate change and meteorological factors affect human body through sensory organs. Changes in climate, weather and meteorology can cause physiological reaction of human beings.
Climate change brings many dangers to human survival and health and one of the consequences is the change in climatic zones that the boundary of tropical area would expand to subtropics and the temperate zone would become subtropical one. The statistics show that, one degree centigrade rise in global average temperature would cause the climatic zones move towards the polar direction of 100 kilometers. But this movement is not uniform and some climatic zones would be disconnected or disappear because of the block of mountains, seas and deserts. The tropical Africa is the high-prevalence area of infectious disease and parasitic disease and also the biggest headstream of viral disease. With the warming up process of temperate areas, the infected or carried areas of pathogens (especially viruses) would expand as well as the extended periods of harm every year, so that the spread of these diseases would become possible facts.
Another consequence of climate change is that, the range of time and space which is suitable for the animals to grow and reproduce will be extended and therefore the reproducing period of bacteria and germs are expanded. With the changing of global climate and the continuous contacting between human and animals, pathogens (especially viruses) will break through the distribution area they parasitizes and infects and can form new pathogens for infectious diseases. Infectious diseases caused by the new pathogens are the most harmful one  to human beings. The most direct effects of climate change on human health is the thermal effect resulted by extreme high temperature, which will become more frequent and of larger range. Due to the increased intensity and duration of the heating wave, the mortality rate of diseases, mainly of cardiovascular systems and respiratory systems, will be improved . There is a close relationship between air pollution and climate change. Under the background of global warming and due to extreme weathers such as high temperatures in summer, warmth of winter and droughts, the air quality of some areas often decreases. Especially in big cities with large population, because of the existence of the heat-island circulation of urban area, air pollutants cannot be discharged outside easily and then serious pollutions happen. Pollutants of the atmosphere will cause discomfort of body sense and physiological functions, resulting in pathological changes, after which clinical signs appear or potential effects of genetics come into being, which leads to acute or chronic intoxication or deaths. Take the fog-haze pollution which happens in Beijing recent years as an example, it not only poses a threat to human health, but also becomes the bottleneck of national economic and social development. With global climate changing, the ultraviolet radiation increases. Tests show that every one percent drop of the ozone in the atmosphere will lead to increase of 2 percent of the ultraviolet radiation that will reach the surface of the earth, and 4 percent of the incidence rate of skin cancer. The increased ultraviolet radiation is extremely harmful to human health.
There are still lots of uncertainties in the evaluation of the impacts of climate change on human health.
  1. Climate change is usually along with other environmental changes, and climate change is not the only factor that influences human health. Human health is also influenced comprehensively by heredity, self-quality, diet, living habits and environment. Thus, in the research of climate change and its impact on human health, the key is to separate out the impact of climate on human health from many factors that influence health.
  2. Climate change is a long-time, dynamic, and complex process. In fact, the level of human health is a comprehensive reflection of social environment, natural environment, material life, and social welfare. Studying the impacts of climate change on human health requires a comprehensive approach, taking into consideration the impacts of climate change on ecological system, biological process, physical environment, social environment, and economic development.
Lowering the risks of climate change and disasters, carrying out the research in climate and human health, and establishing and completing a sound early warning system of the influence on health are important tasks faced by the international community. I believe a country, or a city, needs to build up integrity, be down to earth, and conform to weathers. Building up the integrity means to push forward the construction of ecological civilization, construct national ecological safety pattern, change the extensive economic development model, improve the unhealthy life styles, and raise the national quality and cultivation. Being down to earth firstly means to restore the damaged natural environment and push forward green development and sustainable development. Secondly, it means to advance ecological legislation and environmental legislation, crack down on ecological crime and environmental crime, and make sure the survival safety and life safety of people. Conforming to weathers means to lower the risks of climate change and disasters, evaluate disasters and secondary disasters, and establish early warning system and rescue system to realize the harmonious development of human and nature. The integration of these three points will prevent the generation of turbid essence, and without the turbid essence there will be no fog-haze. The human body itself is a micro ecological system. Blocked main and collateral channels can cause various diseases, and communicated main and collateral channels make diseases all gone.
