东周时期,中国的青铜时代进入尾声,但是青铜艺术并未立即消失,而是迎来了又一个高峰。纵观整个中国青铜时代的发展,基本是一种马鞍形的状态。商代晚期和春秋战国交替之际,堪称青铜艺术并列的双峰。但是如果把二者作以比较的话,也可以很清晰地看到,二者之间截然不同的风格和气质。按李泽厚先生之言,晚商为狰狞之美,春秋战国则轻灵流丽。郭沫若先生在其《彝器形象学试探》中,也曾提及这两个时代不同的特质。
