Using the theory of optimal control and estimation, the integrated guidance and control system of tactical missile was designed. Sensitive devices used in this design include strap-on accelerometers and rate gyros, as well as a see-through seeker. The error sensitivity and performance characteristics are given for interception cases involving tilted turn-to-turn missiles for maneuvering targets. For the same level of parallel displacement (lateral jump) maneuver, a best sensitive device to bring the off-target distance does not exceed 4 feet. It has been found that the main sources of sensor error are seeker quantization and gyro calibration factor errors. In addition, it has also been found that seeker has been cut off before entering into a “dead zone” and that the seeker’s sampling interval has a significant impact on terminal performance and terminal off-target distance.
