Hubei is the country’s old industrial base. The electromechanical industry has a good foundation and complete categories. The export potential of electromechanical products is relatively large. After years of efforts, the export of electromechanical products in Hubei has achieved considerable development. In 1996, Hubei exported a total of US$415.06 million in mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 18.18% over the previous year. The ranking in the country rose from 13th in 1995 to 12th. Since the beginning of this year, exports of mechanical and electrical products in Hubei have maintained a good momentum of development.
