Brazil is one of the 23 original parties to the GATT. In order to promote the establishment of a multilateral trading system and the diversification of export markets, Brazil actively participated in the Uruguay Round negotiations from 1986 to 1994 and was transferred to the WTO in 1995. In order to accelerate the integration into the world economic system, Brazil reduced the average tariff on all kinds of imported products to 10% and the maximum tariff to 35%. After years of adjustment and reform, the competitiveness of Brazil’s economy has been significantly improved, the strength against foreign risks has been strengthened, and its GDP ranks among the top ten in the world. Brazil considers itself one of the beneficiaries of the economic globalization advocated by the WTO.
