1962年,Weimer对薄膜晶体管的研究工作取得了显著的进展。薄膜晶体管(以下简称为TFT)技术一时引起了很多半导体器件研究者的注意。然而,由于在稳定性、重复性方面尚存在问题,应用范围也不十分明确,TFT有没有发展前途呢? 对这个问题争论甚多。整个六十年代,恰恰是硅大规模集成技术飞速发展趋于成熟的阶段。薄膜有源器件刚刚出现,很难与之竞争。其结果是对TFT的兴趣逐渐衰落,为深入了解TFT以及解决存在的问题所必须的系统研究,仅有少数几个研究小组在继续进行。
In 1962, Weimer made significant progress in the research of thin film transistors. Thin-film transistor (hereinafter referred to as TFT) technology has aroused the attention of many semiconductor device researchers.
