在现代海洋中,对于由温盐产生的深部底流或等深流的速度进行直接测量的方法很多,但是对于大的浊流事件,至今仍须用流速计记录到的资料加以确证。而在岩石记录中,我们很少能辨别出等深流沉积,但是常可以鉴别出浊流沉积。然而从时间和空间来看,这些使用及其产物是一致的,可以用一个统一的原因,即海平面的升降变化来说明它们之间的联系。本文拟证明全球性的海平面变化是深海大多数浊流和强烈的等深流同时发生的原因。Vail 等(1977)的全
In the modern ocean, there are many methods for direct measurement of the velocity of deep underflows or isobaths caused by thermohaline, but so far, the large turbidity events still need to be confirmed by the data recorded by the anemometers. In rock records, however, we seldom discern contour sediments, but it is often possible to identify turbidite sediments. However, from the perspective of time and space, these uses and their products are consistent. The unifying reason is that the changes in the sea level can explain the connection between them. This paper intends to prove that the global sea-level change is the reason that most of the deep-sea turbidites and strong isobaths occur at the same time. Vail et al. (1977)
