After the implementation of the new curriculum, “teaching materials” and “use of teaching materials” in stark contrast. In “teaching materials”, textbooks are the starting point and destination of teaching. They are the samples and originals of knowledge replication, and they strictly stipulate the boundaries of teaching and learning. Therefore, teachers and students are in the teaching materials model. In textbooks, teaching materials return to its instrumental nature and become a weapon in the hands of teachers. Teachers can creatively use teaching materials and use them as a starting point to guide students to explore various types of knowledge inside and outside the textbooks. Therefore, in the teaching materials model, teachers and students are open and free. The concept of “using materials” has been accepted by more and more teachers. Then, how to realize the transformation from “teaching materials” to “using materials”? The key is to thoroughly understand the teaching materials and use them flexibly. The five articles in this issue, based on actual teaching experience, illustrate the lively and vivid use of textbooks, and sketch out the real situation of using the textbooks.
