“维生素”这个词是波兰科学家卡西来尔·芬克于1912年发明的。当时的研究表明,一些吃精制大米饭的人常得脚气病,而那些吃糙米饭的人却不生脚气病。芬克研究了这一现象,并从稻壳里分离出一种物质。
The word “vitamin” was invented in 1912 by Polish scientist Casey Fink. At the time, research showed that some people who eat refined rice often get beriberi, while those who eat brown rice have no beriberi. Fink studied the phenomenon and isolated a substance from the rice husk.
