After the Second World War, the Soviet Army built a large number of monuments in the northeast. Among them, four Soviet Red Army martyrs’ monuments in Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin and Dalian are the most famous and become symbols of that period of history. At present, the other three monuments are still standing in place. Only Dalian, based on the original style, relocated to the Soviet Red Army Martyr Tomb in April 1999. At that time, Dalian had caused some controversy over the relocation of the monument, but the final relocation was already a fact.
