Objective To construct a non-alcoholic fatty liver model in rats by using high-fat, high-sugar and low-protein diet. Methods Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups, 20 in control group and normal control group. Twenty mice in model group were fed with high-fat, high-sugar, low-protein diet. Liver biochemical tests and liver ultrasonography were performed at weeks 5 and 10. The 10th week was sacrificed and the liver tissue was taken for pathological analysis. Results ultrasound sonography prompted the model group compared with the control group, B ultrasound diffuse light spots enhanced liver clearance clear. Pathological examination confirmed severe hepatic steatosis in the model group. There was no significant difference in body weight between the two groups. The indexes of liver index, AST and ALP in the model group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with the exception of the 5th week of ALT (P <0.01). Conclusion The 10-week high-fat, high-sugar and low-protein diet can successfully construct a rat fatty liver model suitable for fatty liver research.
