More than 27 years have passed since A. Toffler initially shocked the world with The Shock of the Future. With the help of his collaborator and wife Heidi, he wrote 13 books on the future. Toffler said the advent of the information age is the beginning of the “third wave” of human civilization. As computers became ubiquitous, Toffler argued that the pace of change was faster than he had predicted. Although he considered it very difficult to adapt to change, the greater impact of change was on the existing system itself. He believes that the Internet will only promote the decentralization of power and undermine the traditional bureaucratic system. To Toffler, the changes we have seen are in no way comparable to what remains to be done. S. Thott recently interviewed S. Whitmore, site-program editor for the Ziv-Davis television company.
