Mei Xuerong, director of the Bureau of Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, predicted on the 9th that technologies such as nanometer pesticides will be at the forefront of the world during the “Thirteen Five-Year Plan” and that smart agriculture is also expected to achieve a major breakthrough. After years of construction and development, China’s agricultural science and technology have witnessed rapid development and the supporting role for agricultural development has been continuously strengthened. In 2015, the contribution rate of agricultural science and technology has exceeded 56%. Agricultural genomics research, breeding of new varieties of drought-resistant crops, breeding of green super rice, development of bird flu vaccine and other technologies are among the highest in the world. However, judging from the perspective of the whole world, the development of agricultural science and technology in our country still stays in a small number of leading-edge technologies with most of them parallel or slightly behind the world level. The research and development of many key technologies such as large animal breeding are well developed
