我国绝大多数企业面临入世后外来产品竞争的压力,因此企业的当务之急是提高产品的竞争力,而设备管理的好坏将直接影响着企业的竞争力。随着人们对设备管理重要性认识的深入,人们的设备管理思想也在不断发展与变化。在保持原有先进经验的同时,也在积极探究西方各国的先进设备管理模式,并加以消化吸收,从而推动本企业设备管理工作。设备精益化管理就是典型例证,它是日本丰田生产方式被引入国内经补充完善,并将精益思想延伸到企业管理各方面后行成的一种精益生产方式。准时化和自动化是它的两大支柱。
