“观众就是上帝”这句话,听起来倒还顺耳,不过从时代背景去深究其意,则颇有脱离实际之嫌。旧中国的艺人,不仅被称为“戏子”,而且受到某些观众歧视,被认为是低人一等的下九流之辈。昔日老爷、太太们把娱乐场所(剧场戏院)作为消闲取乐的去处,那些“上等人”并无欣赏艺术的水平,只有亵玩艺人(尤其女艺人)的惯技。艺人们为了糊口,只得投其所好,取悦观众,留心观众眉眼和慰藉观众,从而把观众当作“上帝”。然而,在中国共产党的领导下,不但艺人们从“下九流”的窘境中解放出来,而且戏剧也成了团
