I. INTRODUCTION Materials implanted in the body for stomatology or other purposes should have high resistance to metamorphosis and corrosion to the body fluid environment. Nitinol, a Ti-Ni alloy with “memory” properties, is being considered for surgery and stomatology. Biocompatibility studies of Ti-Ni alloys in dogs showed no adverse reaction and no significant metal release. This shows that Ti-Ni alloys are suitable for use in the human body and should be further verified. Recently, Ti-Ni alloys have been successfully used as orthodontic wires. Bending tests show that the Ti-Ni alloy has a ten times greater strain recovery than stainless steel. This can make it
