李霞是中国近代著名画家。他本是画工出身,既没有显赫的家世背景,也没有名门正派的师承,照理说只能湮没于历史的烟尘中,但他却由民间艺人一跃成为驰名中外的著名画家。除了自己的努力外,还得益于近代上海所提供的机遇和舞台。近代中国有一个特殊现象,文化艺术人士不到上海不算真正成名。李霞与上海的故事为此现象增添了一个有力例证。
Li Xia is a famous modern Chinese painter.
