阅读是学习英语的一个主要途径,对多数人来说,这本身也是一个目的。如果学生掌握了一定的阅读方法与阅读技巧,那么阅读能力也会显著提高,特别是中学生的英语成绩的提高,更依赖于阅读能力的提高。为此,英语教师要注意培养学生的英语阅读技巧。
英语阅读方法阅读技巧在英语教学中,“听说读写”一向是四大要素,而阅读更是英语教学中最基本最重要的内容。阅读可以保持学生学习外语的持久兴趣,可以巩固加深学生所学的知识,可以提高学生综合运用能力,可以开发学生的智力,同样可以拓展学生的知识面。
既然阅读如此重要,那么我们就应该注重培养学生的阅读能力,让学生掌握提高阅读能力的方法就显得尤为重要。笔者就教学体会,浅谈一下提高学生阅读能力的方法。
一、查阅法
查阅法是一种查寻式阅读,它是从阅读材料中有目的地、有选择地迅速查找某一具体事实或特定信息的技能,其要求是快速、准确即没有必要通读全文,只要能快速找到想索取的有关内容就算完成了阅读任务。在考试中,学生可先读文章后面的问题,然后带着这些问题快速浏览文章,查找你想要的信息。也就是说没有必要每个词、每个句子都要弄清楚,即能回答即可。
eg:Charles Dickens, one of the grestest writers, was born in 1812,in one of the small towms of England.
When Dickens was 9,the family moved to London,the capital of England.There were several young children in the family.Their life was hard,so Dickens could not go to school.
Until his father was out of prison could Dickens go to school. At that time,he was 12 years old. But he did not finish school. Two years later, he began to work. He often went to the library to read the books. He wrote lots of novels and stories all his life. Dickens died over 100 years ago,but people are still reading his books with great interest.

二、根据文章的信息词猜测词义
1.根据定义或解释、说明猜测生词的含义。如在含有be, be called等词的判断句中,可以根据已知的部分,猜测生词的含义。
Eg:A person who is skilled at making or repairing wooden objects is called a carpenter.根据“A person who is skilled at making or repairing wooden objects”讲的意思可猜测出carpenter是“木匠”。
2.根据对比关系猜测生词的含义。在含有but,however,yet,otherwise,though等词,这些词都表示意义转折的连词,其前后有明显的对比关系。
Eg:Though Tom’s face has been washed quite clean, his neck still remains grubby.与clean相对比的意思是“肮脏的”,猜出grubby是“肮脏的”。
3.通过因果关系猜测词义。如通过because,since,as, for等词猜测。
Eg:She wanted the hairdresser to trim her hair a bit because it was too long.从because从句所讲的意思,可推断trim是“修剪”之意。
4.根据同等关系猜测词义。属于同一范畴词义的词组或短语用and或or连接。
Eg:At forty, he was in his prime and always full of energy.从“年龄40岁”可猜出prime是“盛年时期”。
三、根据构词法猜测词义
在阅读的时候,常常会遇到一些生词,我们可以通过构词法来猜测生词。在英语中,可以通过三种形式构成新词,即转换法、派生法、合成法。
1.转换法。一个单词或词组由某一种词类转化为另一词类,叫转换法。转换后的词义与转换前的词义有密切的关系。
Eg:The sick and wounded were to be taken good care of by the nurses.句中的“the sick and wounded”(伤病员)是由形容词加定冠词转化而来的名词,表示具有某种特点的一类人,不是指个别人。
2.派生法。在一个单词前或后加上一个词缀,即前缀或后缀,变成一个新词,这种方法叫派生法。
Eg:happy-unhappy,regular-irregular, kind-kindness, help-helpful等。
3.合成法。将两个或两个以上的词合成一个新词,这种构词法叫做合成法。合成词的词义也很容易从每个词的原来词义中推测出来。
Eg:You can buy such things as toilet soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.句中的“toothbrush and toothpaste”是合成词,分别是由tooth(牙齿) brush(刷子),tooth(牙齿) paste(糊膏)构成,可猜出toothbrush为“牙刷”,toothpaste为“牙膏”。
四、理解句义的技巧
培养学生抓句子中关键词,以及句意群理解,明确全句大意等。
Eg:Edisson planted vegetables/ in his garden/ and sold them to buy/ what he needed for his lab.逐词注视,阅读速度既慢且不易掌握全句的意思,如按上面的斜线处停顿读,则全句只要“注视”四次即可。阅读速度可以提高几倍,而且对句子的理解也完整得多。
