Forest fires caused by man-made or natural factors often result in changes in forest cover and structure, which have a significant impact on the forest carbon cycle. MODIS Thermal Anomaly - Fire Products (MOD14) Contains information on surface fire location, reliability, fire point radiant energy and other property information for the monitoring of fire frequencies, levels and their changes. In this study, the northern forest in Russia in Europe as the research object, using daily MODIS14 data and GIS spatial analysis method from 2005 to 2010, the discriminant extraction of over-heated pixels in the study area was carried out to analyze the temporal and spatial variation of forest fire in the area and to explore the driving factor. The results show that Russia’s forest fires in Europe are mainly distributed in central and southern. In recent years, the number of fires has been on an upward trend. In 2010, the fire coverage was 1.5 times that of 2005; the annual occurrence of fires fluctuated over time, and the period of fire danger was from April to October each year; and the super-large-scale fire events caused by extreme drought weather The results of this study are reflected.
