测定10个树种树木上的三年生枝条树皮内绿色组织的叶绿素含量、光合速率和枝干的呼吸速率的结果表明:10个树种树皮内叶绿素含量为0.0649~0.3460mg·g-1(FW),叶绿素a/b为1.05~1.91,均低于叶片或针叶;树皮内绿色组织的光合速率为0.21(红松)~2.06(水曲柳)μmol(O2)·m-2·s-1,枝干呼吸速率1.76(红松)~3.21(落叶松)μmol(O2)·min-1·g-1(FW)。树皮内绿色组织的光补偿点(LCP)、光饱和点(LSP)低于叶片,而表观量子效率(AQY)高于叶片或针叶。据此认为,树皮内绿色组织适应于阴生环境,所以有较强的耐阴能力。
