The world has reduced the amount of arable land, and varieties of highly efficient and ultra-high-efficiency pesticides have emerged one after another. As a result, the production of pesticides and sales growth have slowed down, and even some years have seen negative growth. In the 1990s, pesticide sales were basically stable at between 270 and 30 billion U.S. dollars. In addition, the cost and time for the research, development, and registration of new structural compounds in pesticides has increased significantly. The demand for pesticides tends to be saturated, the amount of active ingredients has been declining year by year, market competition has intensified, and the risk of new species development has increased dramatically. These factors have led to the profit of pesticide industry under successive years.
