结合实测差分GPS数据、冰川雷达测厚数据与地形图以及遥感数据,对比研究了喜马拉雅山中段希夏邦马地区抗物热冰川1974年与现在的空间范围,估算了近30多年来该冰川的变化,特别是冰川的体积变化.研究表明自20世纪70年代以来该冰川处于大幅度的物质亏损状态,冰川面积减少了34.2%,体积减少了48.2%,平均厚度减薄了7.5m.这一结果表明喜马拉雅山地区冰川体积的减小远比人们预想的要严重得多.通过对位于希夏邦马地区两个气象站气象资料的分析,发现该地区自20世纪中叶到21世纪初气温升高显著.气候转暖所导致的大幅度冰川退缩,将对水文与生态环境产生显著的影响.
