At the 2013 National Science and Technology Awards Conference held on January 13, 2014, the second grade prize of science and technology progress award was obtained by Chongqing University and other institutes for prevention and control of age of concrete cracks and application of new materials. The project has been applied to more than 60 projects nationwide, reducing the cost of repairing cracks up to 1 billion yuan. According to reports, China’s annual output of concrete for important building structures has accounted for more than 50% of the world. Concrete cracks are the major cause of steel corrosion and decreased durability, leading to a reduction in the useful life of a large number of infrastructure and a serious loss of wealth. According to Qian Jishi, head of the project, China is in high-speed construction
