Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have succeeded in making the robot aircraft avoid obstacles in a small space without the use of a positioning system. The MIT machine-learning group’s aircraft have paved the way for the development of an aircraft that does not fly with autopilot, even in some remote areas that can not be used by the Global Positioning System. MIT robots piloted a fixed-wing aircraft in a parking lot in a school building and used only airborne sensors to direct the flight path of the aircraft according to the building in the parking lot, making sailing safe. Aircraft use custom algorithms developed by teams to determine trajectories and conditions,
