吴德斌创作于1987年,并于同年参加了上海美术馆举办的“首届中国油画展”的油画作品《自述》,是改革开放以来中国现代艺术中的重要作品之一。这种重要性从文化意义上来说表现在两个方面:一是艺术家非常深刻地表达了被存在主义哲学家,如海德格尔、加缪等人所揭示的人的生存的荒诞和困境,以及詹姆逊所说的现代主义艺术那种表达不可表达的现代性。我们知道,詹姆逊曾以蒙克的《呐喊》为例,讨论了现代主义艺术在表现想发声而又无法发声的现代人类所遭遇的困境。而吴德斌的《自述》正是以纯正的油画语言
Wu Debin was born in 1987 and participated in the “Self-Description” oil painting “First China Oil Painting Exhibition ” organized by the Shanghai Art Museum in the same year. It is one of the important works in modern Chinese art since the reform and opening up. This importance is represented culturally in two aspects. First, the artist expressed very profoundly the absurdity and predicament of the existentialists as revealed by existentialist philosophers such as Heidegger and Camus, and Jameson said that modern art can not express the kind of modernity. We know that Jameson used the example of Munch’s “Cry” to discuss the plight of modern art in representing modern humans who would like to sound but not sound. And Wu Debin’s “readme” is a pure painting language
