Japan’s Kyoto, Nara can be described as today is the world’s most preserved culture of the Tang style of the city, almost all follow the pattern of the capital city of Changan built. One thing is quite different from the ancient Chinese capital - no city walls. There are not many articles devoted to this issue in the current historiography. Only a few articles have some views scattered in nature and are mostly focused on nature. They think that such a building mode has been chosen in view of Japan’s special natural environment. In fact, apart from this, the Japanese cultural awareness, such as Shinto tradition, erroneous ideas, and a good national psychology, also exert a significant influence on the construction of Japan’s city walls.
