In “The Mysterious River,” Australian author Glenn Willwell dropped her previous single feminist writing model and set her sights on the past in Australia. Through personal experience of the settler Sonia, she reproduces how the colonial ruling class constructed its dominance and practiced cultural hegemony through “approval”. White colonizers with a strong sense of racial superiority continue to clash with indigenous Negroes. Emphasize their land, assimilate their ideas. Within white people, the existence of a hierarchical system made the disparity between the rich and poor wide and the class differentiated obviously. On the issue of gender, indigenous black women who are both “black” and “female” have to face the double oppression of white men. As “others ” of them, only reluctantly agree, simply can not make their own voice.
