桂芋2号是从桂芋1号大田组培苗后代中筛选的优良芽变单株,经离体快繁、种植观察、筛选培育而成的槟榔芋新品种。全生育期240~260 d,晚熟,株高130~170 cm,叶片互生、阔大,长45~65 cm,宽35~50 cm;母芋表皮有灰褐色鳞片,上部略尖下部钝圆如卵形或椭圆形,切面有明显的槟榔紫色花纹,单芋质量1.2~2.5 kg,营养丰富,淀粉含量高,易煮熟,口感细腻,香味浓郁,菜粮兼宜;对芋疫病和软腐病的抗性强于桂芋1号,每667 m~2产量3 200 kg左右,适于广西境内芋头产区特别是桂林市、南宁市、贺州市等地区种植。
