近代中德关系比较密切。《协和报》是德国在中国的喉舌,是其侵略中国的舆论工具。为了取得中国人的信任,《协和报》以敦促中德友谊、宣传西方的科技文化为宗旨;它美化德国侵华行径,揭露其它列强侵华的野心和伎俩,极力制造其它列强之间的矛盾,以此来遏制其它帝国主义国家侵华,从而为德国扩大在华权益创造有利的环境。第一次世界大战爆发后,《协和报》为德国军国主义做宣传和辩护,宣扬在德国必胜、协约国必败,充分发挥了其舆论功能。
Modern Sino-German relations are relatively close. “Kyow” is the mouthpiece of Germany in China and the media of its invasion of China. In order to gain the confidence of the Chinese people, “Kyowa” aims at urging the Sino-German friendship and publicizing the science and technology in the West. It beautifies Germany’s invasion of China and exposes the ambitions and tricks of other powers in aggressively seeking to create the contradictions among other powers In order to curb the invasion of China by other imperialist countries and thus create a favorable environment for Germany to expand its rights in China. After the outbreak of World War I, “Kyowa” advocated and defended the German militarism, proclaimed the victory in Germany, the defeat of the allies and gave full play to its media functions.
